

She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harry Joseph Elliott; parents, Grover A. and Emily Collins Purdy; brothers, Bernard Purdy, Alfred Purdy and Grover A. Purdy Jr.; grandson, Joey Shockley, and sons-in-law, Kenneth Bush and Dwayne Deaton. She is survived by nine daughters, Susan Shockley (Horace), Nancy Bush, Dottie Toler (Skip), Carol Deaton, Kathy Michael (Mell), Patsy Ward (Terry), Peggy Kelley (George), Marian Scott (Donnie) and Mary Bentley (John); 22 grandchildren and “a bunch” of great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Elliott was retired from the University of Georgia Bookstore.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 18 from 6-7 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home followed by a Rosary Service in the chapel at 7 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Prince Avenue with Father David McGuinness officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
