Frances was born August 12, 1932 in Athens, GA to the late George M. Abney, Sr. and Elizabeth Scott Abney. Frances attended public schools in Athens and was a proud graduate of the University of Georgia. She loved to cheer for her Georgia Bulldogs.
Frances married Lauren M. Coile and they spent 69 years enjoying family and friends in Athens, Lake Burton and Sanibel, FL. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad.
In addition to her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, George and Beth Abney, preceded Frances in death.
Frances is survived by her husband of 69 years, Lauren; sons, Mac (Jennifer) of Kennesaw, GA; and Morris of Durango, CO; and niece, Sue Ellen Abney Roberts (David) of Aiken, SC.
A memorial service will be held at Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Dr. Luis Ortiz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Athens YMCA, 915 Hawthorne Ave., Athens, GA 30606.
