He was a proud Marine during WWII. After the war he earned an Engineering degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. He went to work with Roper Industries. In 1959 he joined Roper Pump Company in Commerce, Georgia and became President of Roper Pump Company in 1968. He was a member of Kiwanis, a big Georgia Bulldog supporter and season ticket holder, loved golf and was a member of Athens Country Club for 63 years.
He was preceded in death by one of his sons. He is survived by his wife of 77 years who has traveled the world with him to 40 countries. He is also survived by two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Bernstein Funeral Home, followed by services at 1:30 p.m., at the Evergreen Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.
