Carey was born January 30, 1944 in Darien, CT to his late parents Stanley and Maria Winzurk. Following high school he served for 4 years in the Coast Guard. After living in California and Florida, Carey landed in Atlanta where he began his career as a photojournalist for FOX 5 News until he retired in 2007.
Throughout his life Carey enjoyed sailing, photography, art, painting, drawing, rescuing any kind of animal or fish, cycling, trains/garden railroads and watching every type of professional car races. Carey had an unmatched dry sense of humor and was eager to learn and discuss as evidenced by his vast collection of magazine subscriptions. You could find him at local meetups on a variety of topics from finances to art to health and nutrition.
Carey is survived by his daughter Molly Cannington (Nic), son Nick Winzurk and 4 grandsons.
