J. Nelson Stewart

A native of Athens, Mr. Stewart was a son of the late Stanley Stephen Stewart and Lois Dooley Stewart. He was a graduate of Oconee County High School, Class of 1963 and Georgia State University. Mr. Stewart retired from the Southern Company/Georgia Power and loved to travel, his favorite place being Israel. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC, where he attended the Encouragers Sunday Class.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and a nephew.

Survivors include wife, Icie Blair Stewart; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and John; granddaughter, Blair; grandson, Blake; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Linda and James and Vesta; five nephews and eight nieces.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 4 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
