Jose Antonio “Tony” Rivera was brought into this world on December 15, 1995. He passed away peacefully at Athens Regional Medical Center on July 6, 2011 at 12:52 PM. Tony passed suddenly, quickly, and painlessly after a tragic accident while playing with his friends. Even though Tony passed away at the young age of 15, he touched the lives of many people and he was loved by all of them. Tony was a student at Clarke Central High School, and he was well liked by the students and the staff in his school. He was best known for his sense of humor, even when he was supposed to be serious. He was a fan of wrestling, an avid gamer, a hard worker even under adversity, an amazing competitor, a connoisseur of spicy foods, and a wonderful friend. He was also a loving son and brother, often making great sacrifices to help his family and friends. Tony loved video games, music, playing basketball, talking and texting his friends, and looking out for others. He is survived by his mother, Tamara Allen; sister, Kimberly Allen; grandmother, Nancy Allen all of Athens; grandfather, Glenn Allen and wife, Angie of The Village, FL; uncles, Kenny Allen and wife, Rhonda of Jacksonville, FL and Scott Allen of Wallingford, CT; friend and honorary brother, Johnny Orduna; and many other friends and family members. When it came to his family, he was not only a great brother, son, nephew, and grandson; he was also a best friend.
Funeral services will be held 2PM Saturday, July 9th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Fessler officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-2PM prior to the service at Bernstein.
