It was a pleasure to meet Mark and to sew for him.  I always enjoyed our visits.  My deepest sympathies to his family.

My Brother None More loving than Mark Ed.

To all of Mark Ed's Family - Your Father,Grandfather and loved one was a Great man. We have not lived in Athens since 1973, but when lived next door we had many wonderful experiences together.One that we wil never forget was his " daredevil"drive to the hospital when our son Skip had been run over by a car. Eating at Chase St. Was always an experience.

May your memories give you peace and comfort.  I remember him when we were in high school.  He was a super person.

We are so sorry for your loss and May you find comfort at this most difficult time and know he touched alot of lives.In the early 80's I had the pleasure of seeing Mark Ed tell a co-worker of mine, (that had scarfed down her food and wanted to smoke) if she was finished eating, she had to give up her seat, there were others waiting to eat. Gotta respect someone looking out for the other people and he did.  May he rest in peace.

I was a friend for only a couple of years.  He was at McDonald's almost every morning having a sausage and biscuit.  I would chat with him for a couple of minutes and he was always so jolly.  He really made my day brighter and I am already missing him.  Prayers for the family as you go thru this trying time.

I am so sorry for your loss;Mark was a great man! I only met him a few times when he would come visit my father before he died but I could tell he was a genuine person and a great friend! My mother would find something at her door occasionally and she would usually find out Mark had come by the house and left it for her! He was a very caring man! I know you will miss him so much as will everyone who knew him!

To the Hansford family, I grew up next door to Allen and Sara and attended East Athens Baptist Church. Mark Ed was a such a hard working man as was his parents,. Special memories of the caf and my friends. Prayers for comfort and you were certainly blessed to have had such a fine father, brother, and grandfather.

Our harts go out to the friends &vfamily.   Mark was a good friend to Betty, his former sister in-law she never considered him other than part of her family.  I only knew him for the last 36 years and considered my time with Mark on and off the golf course some of the happiest times of my life.  God rest his soul.

What a great write-up for a true Athens original!  He was a very impressive man and a wonderful host at Chase Street Cafe. I only wish some of those customer conversations that Mark took part in (and sometimes refereed) had been recorded. What humor and foolishness and wisdom and history were spoken forth over scrambled eggs or chicken mull!  Rest in peace.

My condolences to Mr. Hansford's Family. I remember eating at Chase St. Caf many, many times as a child. The horseshoe type seating arrangement allowed him to serve and speak to everyone. Very nice guy. RIP Sir.

Mark was a very special friend to everyone that knew him from the caf, to the ball field, to the police dept. He was a sweet man and will be missed by ALL.  May he RIP.
