Martha Jean Vickery

Born on April 24, 1936 in Greenwood, South Carolina, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Renee and Harold Bennett of Gainesville, Larry Vickery of Athens, Susan and Stanley Kent Flowery Branch, Rudy Vickery of Athens and Marty and Lori Vickery of Lavonia; her grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Kent, Emily and Lucas Vickery and Autumn and Mandi Vickery; and great-grandchildren, Braelynn, Aiden, and Christopher. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Rudolph “Vic” Vickery, who died January 31, 2011 and her parents Oliver and Vivian Prince.

Following a move from Gainesville, Martha was employed for many of her early years at Kroger and then spent the majority of her career at the Navy Commissary in Athens, GA where she retired. She was a charter member of Heritage Fellowship of Bogart, Georgia. She loved the Lord and her family and spent her years demonstrating both. Martha was also a great lover of the sunshine, flowers, and birds.

Services will be held 4PM Thursday, March 19th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Wednesday, March 18th at the funeral home.
