A celebration of her life will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall, 432 Forest Hill Rd., Macon, Georgia, at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 21st, where family and friends will gather to remember her warmth, humor, and enduring love for those closest to her.
Mary Ann was born in Vidalia, Georgia, to the late Joseph Sidney Sherrod and Ava Lou Dominy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Forrest Philip Cawley Jr., and her cherished son, Forrest Philip Cawley III, both of whom she held close in her heart throughout her life.
She is survived by her son, Jay Cawley, and his wife, Sandy; her two adored grandchildren, Belle Taylor and her wife Mattie, of Rockmart, Georgia, and Phillip Cawley of Rutledge, Georgia; as well as many treasured cousins who remained dear to her over the years.
Mary Ann graduated from Dublin High School in 1954. After attending college, she began her career as a secretary, a path that ultimately led her to Atlanta, where she met Phil—the love of her life. Together, they built a life rooted in family, friendship, and shared joy.
Mary Ann found happiness in simple pleasures and deep friendships. She loved her family deeply and took great joy in time spent with friends. She enjoyed dancing and playing tennis, but her greatest gift was her laughter—full, genuine, and contagious. Those who knew her will remember her kind heart, her love of being silly and teasing.
Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly and in the countless moments of joy she shared with those around her.
