

Sandy Allen Wright Jr. was born on February 5, 1953, to Sandy and Mary Frances Wright in Lexington, Georgia. Both his parents preceded him in death.
Sandy gave his life to Christ at an early age and served the Lord faithfully as a church member and deacon, attending Sunday school, Bible study, and sang in the choir—not perfect, but faithfully.
Sandy received a public school education excelling in shop and track. He received several trophies and ribbons for 50-yard dash and relay races. His high school nickname was “Speedy Gonzales.” He graduated from Northwestern High School in Detroit, Michigan.
Sandy became independent and responsible as a teenager. He worked at a grocery store after school and was seldom without work again until he retired. After high school he worked at various plants including General Motors in Detroit, General Times of Athens, Georgia and Georgia Pacific, a lumber plant.
Loved ones that mourn his passing include his loving and devoted wife, G. Susy Wright; his three daughters: Ms. Chanelle Wright of Athens, Georgia, Ms. Teresa Wright of Madison, Georgia and Ms. Jessica Wright of Detroit, Michigan; one son, Kris Sierra of Winder, Georgia; five granddaughters: Kia Wright, Pazia Brown and Racheal Marable, all of Athens, Georgia, Jamaya Fair of Detroit, Michigan and Addie Phillips-Sierra of Winder, Georgia; his siblings: Ms. Pamela Wright, Ray Wright, Gregory Wright and Patrick Wright; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19, at 10:00 a.m., at Gilead Baptist Church, 42 Booger Hill Rd., Danielsville, Georgia 30633.
Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, 3655 Atlanta Hwy., Athens, Georgia 30606.
