

A native of Oconee County, Mr. Lee was the son of the late Walter Monroe Lee and Julia Huff Lee and was preceded in death by his first wife, Annelle Barton Lee. He attended Officer Candidate School and obtained the rank of captain in the United States Army and was past master of Amity Masonic Lodge. Mr. Lee served as choir director at Watkinsville First Baptist Church, Talmadge Heights Baptist Church, Briarwood Baptist Church, and song leader at Watkinsville First Christian Church. He had been very active in PTA and youth sports with Oconee County Schools and retired from BellSouth.
Survivors include wife, Gwendolyn Fulcher Lee of Watkinsville; children, Lisa Lee of Pinelake, GA, Starla Dugger and husband, Elliott of Lilburn, GA, Andrew Lee and wife, Ginger of Sugar Valley, GA, and Richard Payne Jr and wife, Treasure of Tifton, GA; brothers, Harry Lee and Chester Lee both of Athens, GA, and J.W. Lee of Augusta, GA; sister, Faye Drewry of Johns Creek, GA; grandchildren, J.D. Sharp, Harrison Sharp, Victoria Lee, Joshua Lee, Richard L Payne III, Bryce Payne, and Mary Claire Payne, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:30PM Sunday, November 14th at Friendship Presbyterian Church with Rev Doug Ivey and Rev Jose Torres officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6PM Saturday, November 13th at Bernstein.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Friendship Presbyterian Church, Building Fund in memory of Starr Lee, 8531 Macon Hwy, Athens, GA 30606.
