Born in Westport, Tennessee, Mrs. Taylor was the daughter of the late John C. and Lila Butler Sanders and was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Raymond F. Taylor and two sisters, Evelyn S. Ragland and Sue S. Smith.
Mrs. Taylor graduated high school in Dickson, TN, received her teaching degree at Bethel College, and taught school in Lavinia, TN prior to her marriage.
She lived in Nashville, TN, Gulfport, MS, Macon, GA, Jacksonville, FL, and Hendersonville, TN during her married life, moving to Athens, GA after her husband’s death.
Funeral services will be held 5PM Friday, September 16th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with visitation immediately preceding the service from 4-5PM. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda T. Henson of Athens, GA and Donna K. Taylor of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Julie H. Evans and husband, Daniel, Jeffrey T. Henson, and Dana H. Buchanan and husband, Reid; three great-grandchildren, Parker Evans, Thomas Evans, and Collins Buchanan, and two nieces, Phyllis Northcutt and Pamela Carson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Oconee Church of Christ, of which she was a member, for benevolence, 2005 Ray’s Church Rd, Bishop, GA 30621 or to Georgia AGAPE, 3094 Mercer University Dr, Atlanta, GA 30341.
