Anthony S. Carlisi passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 12, 2022. Tony loved the Lord, his family, friends, golfing, traveling, and eating in great restaurants. He would do anything for a laugh and anyone who knew him, knew that his heart was as big as his boisterous personality. Tony was born in 1930 in Waltham, MA to Gerlando and Rosalea Carlisi. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Josephine, and they were dedicated to each other for over 65 years. Together they built a family, made many dear friends all over the US, and traveled the world.
Tony was a proud alumnus of Boston College, graduating in 1953 with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he served in the Army Intelligence Corps in Korea, receiving commendations for his service from both the US and South Korean governments. When he returned home, Tony began a career in sales, which perfectly suited his outgoing personality. He worked for Anchor Fence and Spalding Moss Printing, before embarking on a 34 year career in Sales and Marketing with Xerox Corporation. Tony led sales teams across the country before moving to Rochester, NY as part of the team responsible for leading and expanding Xerox Reproductive Services. His expertise in sales, marketing, and Total Quality Management was so valued that Xerox hired him to return as a consultant after he retired from full-time employment. Tony loved what he did, the travel his job afforded him, and the friends he made along the way.
Tony lived his life according to Luke 12:48, “To whom much is given, much will be required.” He was a founder of Operation Food Basket, a nonprofit organization now in its 41st year of feeding hungry families in the Rochester New York metropolitan area. Additionally, he volunteered for 17 years at the Rochester chapter of SCORE, first as a small business mentor, then as Marketing and Fundraising Committee Chairs, Chapter Chair, and Assistant District Director. Tony was passionate about helping small business owners, and appreciated the talented volunteers he worked with and how much he learned from them.
Tony is survived by his wife, Josephine, his son Richard Carlisi, daughter Anne Marie Carlisi, son-in-law Thomas Kartovicky, daughter-in-law Cindy Carlisi, and the prides of his life, his grandchildren Christopher Carlisi, Michael Carlisi and Leah Kartovicky Worthey (Brandon Worthey).
