Catherine Hudlow Chasen, 85, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2011, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. A native Atlantan, Cathy devoted her life to her husband and four daughters, as well as to volunteer work in the community and at her church. She was the youngest of three children born to Sarah Jane and Thomas Kimsey Hudlow. She attended Commercial High School in Decatur and went on to work at the Southern Bell telephone company in the accounting office. In 1945 she met Sylvan H. (Chase) Chasen at a dance at Georgia Tech and a romance began that lasted 66 years. They married in 1946. Having lost her own mother at the age of 3, Cathy strived to be the mother she never had for her own daughters. Her family and friends will remember her for her selfless and generous nature and her creativity. She was a brilliant cook and her sewing prowess extended from ingenious Halloween costumes to glamorous prom dresses that occasionally were just reaching completion as their wearers were heading out the door! She was a member of the Daughters of the King at St. Martin’s and also volunteered and served on the board at the Fellowship Mission at Kelly Street. Cathy had a great spirit of adventure and curiosity about the world, and traveled extensively with her husband. Survivors include her husband Chase, daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Rick Wyatt, Dianne and David Lipsey, Jane and Jim Morrison, Susan Chasen and Dan Mazur, grandchildren, Mike and Chase Morrison, Tom and William Wyatt, and Rebecca Mazur.
