

He is predeceased by his parents, Clarence William Moody, Sr and Dorothy Lary Moody. Bill was born on October 30, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up there and was graduated from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. While at Memphis State he joined the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and served as Secretary and Ritualist. After a short stint of active duty with the Air Force Reserves, he returned to Memphis to join the family business, Clarence Moody’s Casual Furniture. In 1966 he joined IBM as a System Engineer and moved to Nashville to support customers installing applications software on the new IBM360 computers. In 1974 he moved to Atlanta to become a Product Planner for computer software for a new generation of IBM computers. The majority of his IBM career in Atlanta was in management positions in an organization that developed application software for various IBM computers. He retired from IBM in 1996.
After learning that traditional retirement was not for him, he returned to the workforce as an Escrow Officer with International Escrow Services, a subsidiary of the law firm Schreeder, Wheeler and Flint, LLP in Atlanta and spent over 20 years with the firm.
He was active in the arts community. He performed with the Nashville Symphony Chorus, the Colson Chorale in Nashville and Atlanta, and the Choral Guild of Atlanta, where he served as its Chairman of the Board of Directors for several years. He also served on the board of Chorus America, a national organization for professional and amateur choruses.
Bill is survived by his sister, Pat, in Memphis, his husband, Hal Brown III, and a family of friends in Atlanta and around the country.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Atlanta when it is safe to congregate in 2021.
