Daniel Bertram Miles, “Bert” of Dunwoody, GA, entered the kingdom of heaven on Tuesday, February 12. Bert was born August 8, 1926 in Norfolk, Virginia to Hamilton Walker and Ann Johnson Miles. He attended Maury High School and William and Mary College. He then entered OCS at Fort Riley, Kansas. He married the love of his life, Georgia Turner on December 23, 1949 prior to embarking on a 40 year career with Liberty Mutual Insurance where he eventually became the southern divisions claims manager. After retirement, he enjoyed extensive world travel and various volunteer work. He was also a 40 year member of Kingswood United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Georgia, he is also survived by his son, Dan, various nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended relatives, many neighbors, friends, and co-workers. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15th at 2 o’clock at Kingswood United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Dale officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Interment Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Bert’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Meals on Wheels of Atlanta, the Humane Society, or Kingswood United Methodist Church.
