

Dr. Lawrence Tecumseh Brannon of Atlanta died November 22, 2012. He was born in Atlanta Georgia August 12 1932 at Grady Memorial Hospital. After graduating from Bass High School, Dr. Brannon attended Emory University where he earned his degree in Medicine. He later went on to the University of Pennsylvania where he did his residency in Psychiatry. After completing two years of service at Fairchild Air Force Base in the state of Washington, he moved with his family to Atlanta where he practiced psychiatry for forty-five years. His primary expertise was in the field of alcohol and drug addiction. He was also a 50-year distinguished life fellow and life member of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Brannon played competitive tennis in the early 80’s through the 90’s. He traveled the southeastern United States and achieved the 25th place USTA national ranking in the 55 – 60 age group. His favorite activities included watching tennis, football, and eating at Matthews Cafeteria in Tucker, Georgia. Dr. Brannon is survived by: his daughter Lynn Ramsey Brannon, son and daughter-in-law Frank W. and Beverly Franz Brannon, daughters Dr. Melissa Brannon Gillespie and Karen Brannon Colvin, and daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Amir Dekel. Survivors also include grandchildren: Emerson Ball; Dominick, Benjamin and Donovan Haven; Angelea Iafornaro; Carlin, Emma and Jack Brannon; Megan, Kate and Connor Gillespie; Sam and Ben Colvin; Kiki and Bella Dekel; and great grandchildren: Julia Ball, Arabella and Dominick Haven, and Benicio Iafornaro. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 1st, at 11 o’clock at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia, 41 Perimeter Center East, Atlanta, GA 30346. The family will receive friends Saturday morning at 10 to 11 at H.M.
