Eleanor H. Clark, lovingly known to many simply as “El,” passed away leaving behind a legacy that is as bold, unforgettable, and genuine as she was. Born Eleanor Prescott on August 22, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she lived her life unapologetically—speaking her mind, standing firmly in her truth, and never sugarcoating a thing. If you knew El, you knew exactly where she stood.
Eleanor was a strong woman in every sense of the word. Her strength was evident not only in her convictions, but in her deep capacity for love, loyalty, and care. What made her extraordinary was her ability to balance what seemed like opposites—strength and sensitivity, toughness and tenderness—carrying both with a natural ease that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She had a sharp wit and a contagious sense of humor. Eleanor was a riot—quick with a remark, fearless with her opinions, and endlessly entertaining. Conversations with her were never dull, and memories of her laughter and one-liners will be retold for generations. She didn’t just enter a room—she made it memorable.
Eleanor is survived by her devoted partner, John “Ray” Hood; her children Russell “Eddie” and his wife Jennifer, Christopher and his wife Lisa, and Brooke and her husband Daniel Sr.; and her cherished grandchildren Kayleigh, Taylor, Gage, Patrick, Daniel Jr., Jackson, and Declan, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Eleanor’s life was one of authenticity, humor, and fierce love. She leaves behind not only family who adored her, but a mark on the world that cannot be softened, forgotten, or replaced. She will be deeply missed—and lovingly remembered—exactly as she was.
Private services honoring Eleanor’s life will be held in New Jersey.
