Georgia Geis

Georgia Field Geis passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 in Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest George Field and Elizabeth Mears Fields; husband, Ray Geis; brother, Horace Wesley Field; and nephew, Wes Field. Georgia graduated from Girls High School in Atlanta and went to the University of Georgia as an undergraduate. From there she earned her master’s degree at Peabody College in Nashville, which is an affiliate of Vanderbilt University. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Until her passing, she was an active member of many social groups dear to her, including the Girls High Classmates, Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, and the Retired Lithonia Teachers. She is survived by her sons: Rob (Cathy) Geis, Steve (Karen) Geis, and Jeff Geis; nephew, Alan Field; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill Chapel on Tuesday, the twenty-sixth day of July at eleven o’clock in the morning.
