

Miles, Georgia T. February 14, 1926 – February 17, 2015 Georgia Turner Miles of Dunwoody, GA, joined her late husband Daniel Bertram “Bert” Miles with their lord and savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 17. Georgia was born on February 14, 1926 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to George Washington and Mabel Stanley Turner as the youngest of 3 daughters. She attended Elizabeth City High School and after graduation pursued a career with the Bell Telephone Company. She married Daniel Bertram Miles on December 23, 1949, a marriage which lasted 62 years until his passing in early 2013. In 1966 they welcomed a son, Dan, into the world and Georgia became a devoted mother who was involved as a soccer mom and active with the PTA and many other parenting activities. She was also very involved with many civic groups such as garden clubs and civic associations and volunteered for many charities, most notably Meals on Wheels. She was also a 42 year member of Kingswood United Methodist Church which she attended faithfully. In addition to her son Dan of Dunwoody, survivors include niece Phyllis Tatem, niece Karen Schroeder and husband John, nephew Gray Kiger and wife Diane all of Norfolk, Virginia. She is also survived by many other relatives, wonderful lifelong friends, and neighbors. Special mention to the wonderful people at the Sunrise at Ivy Ridge facility and Agape Hospice who took loving care of Georgia in the last few years of her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Georgia’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Meals on Wheels of Atlanta, or Kingswood United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill the family will receive friends one hour prior and a small reception will follow the service.
