ATLANTA, GA – James Gregory “Greg” Spencer died on June 17, 2016, with his family by his side. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel with Pastor Derek Sweatman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm. Greg was born in Riverside, California, to Col. Earl W. and Carolyn Spencer. He resided for many years in Montgomery, Alabama, where he played in several bands, attended college at Auburn University in Montgomery, and met his wife. Greg was an accomplished musician and artist who loved spending time with family and friends. Greg’s greatest joy was his son. Greg is survived by his wife, Alison and son Jack; mother Carolyn Spencer; brothers Steve (Janice) and Earl (DeLaine); and nephews Brad Spencer, Scott Spencer, Westley Padgett and niece Sidney Spencer. He is also survived by the bandmates he considered brothers. Greg’s legacy is the beautiful music he recorded over his lifetime.
