

Marcus Kentwood Woodford, Sr., 88, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away February 2, 2014. He was born April 16, 1925 in Bedford, Virginia. He was a lieutenant in the Army Air Force serving as a B-25 pilot in World War II. He was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech. He began his career in Bedford, Virginia where he met the love of his life and wife of 59 years Mildred Garnett, originally of Boydton, Virginia. He led Kubota Tractor in Atlanta as Senior Director and Division Manager for over 30 years helping to establish the company’s preeminence in the American and global market. He will be remembered for his love of cigars, tremendous sense of humor, many stories and words of wisdom, but, mostly, for a life marked by the respect and admiration of his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Mildred and their three sons: Marcus Woodford, Jr., of St. Charles, Missouri; Charles Woodford of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Richard Woodford of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two sisters, Sybil Newton of Roanoke, Virginia, and Betty Jo Bates of Culpepper, Virginia. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4 from 6pm to 8pm at H.M. Patterson & Son- Oglethorpe Hill Chapel at 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, in Atlanta, Georgia. On Thursday, February 6 in Huddleston, Virginia, a visitation will be held at Updike Funeral Home on Thursday, February 6th from 12pm to 2pm with a graveside service at 2pm at Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery.
