

Peggy was born on April 9, 1926, to Walter and Arvilla Burke, and lived most of her life in Atlanta.
She earned her RN degree from Emory University School of Nursing in 1951 and later taught at St. Joseph's Infirmary. From 1953 until his death in 2004, she was married to William Penn White, M.D. Together they raised 4 sons, nurturing in them a love for learning, caring for others, horseback riding, camping, sailing, and traveling. Peggy was a lifelong animal-lover, with a special fondness for horses and dogs. She enjoyed St. Simon's Island and Lake Rabun. Peggy was fun. She was a Cub Scout den mother and a second mother to neighborhood children. She was a tireless mother, wife, nurse, friend that will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother Martin Burke (Connie Burke) of St. Simons Island, sons Kevin
G. White of Atlanta, Dr. Christopher J. White (Jane White) of St. Simons Island, Dr. Peter F. White (Dr. Mary Socci) of Hilton Head Island, SC, and Dr. W. Penn White (Dr. Lori White) of Fairhope, AL, and 9 grandchildren.
