Our beloved mother and grandmother, Marjorie Cravey Taylor (Gambrell), born July 26, 1922, died on June 9, 2011. Services will be held Tuesday, June 14, at 1 PM at Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church, 1015 East Rock Springs Road in Atlanta, 30306. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, June 13, at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel on Peachtree Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Haygood UMC. She was a loving and dutiful daughter to Mr. & Mrs. Zach D. Cravey, an inspiring older sister to Zach and Robert Cravey, and an adored wife to John L. Taylor Sr. Her children, Mr. & Mrs. John L. Taylor Jr. and Marjorie Jane Taylor will cherish her memory and her grandchildren, Lee Johnson, Anne Taylor Carros and Reese Hudnall, will remember her with deepest love always. After John L. Taylor Sr. passed away after 33 blessed years of marriage, Marjorie was fortunate to find love again in M. E. Gambrell who shared her life for another 30 years until his death last year. Marjorie attended Girl’s High in Atlanta and was graduated from the University of Georgia where she was an Alpha Delta Pi. She worked for many years at the Avis G. Williams library in Decatur. Marjorie was very active with Haygood UMC and UMW. After surviving colon cancer, she became an advocate and educator for the Ostomy Association. Her considerable extended family will mourn the loss of her adventurous spirit, kindness and generosity. She was not only a devoted wife and mother, but also a gifted gardener and crafter. She kept the stories of our history alive and was a vibrant presence in our lives right up to the very moment of her passing. These tiny words are too small to encompass her great spirit. The family thanks the dedicated staff of Compassionate Hospice, Crossroads Hospice and Budd Terrace.
