Martha Helen Echols Allen

Helen Echols Allen, 87, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2022. She was preceeded in death by her loving husband, Robert Richard Allen, and her parents, Frederick and Maugie Echols. She is survived by her three daughters: Debbie Turner (Terry), Vicky Schell, and Cissy Flanigan (David), 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was burned severely when only 25 years of age. She defied all odds, despite being told she would never walk or write again, and was able to raise her two daughters. She was also able to have a third daughter, and raise her also. She will always be a hero to us for her recovery and her perseverance to move forward.

Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Grady High School, and after her children were grown, attended Perimeter College. She had been living at Mount Vernon Towers for the last several years, where she had many friends. She had also been a member of Dunwoody Baptist Church for the past 30 years. She will be greatly missed.

There will be a private ceremony at the Georgia National Cemetery, where she will be buried with her late husband.
