

Martha Dunn Kerby, wife of W. Dixon Kerby, Jr., (deceased), died on May 17th, 2015. She was born in Thomasville, Georgia to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Dunn, Jr. and lived there until the family moved to Atlanta in 1928. She attended Highland Avenue Grammar School, Decatur Girl's High School and Agnes Scott College, where she received a BA degree in history. After graduation she worked at Retail Credit Company, now Equifax, in the Standards Department. She married W. Dixon Kerby Jr. in 1942. While he was overseas during World War II, she continued to work at Retail Credit Company. Mrs. Kerby was a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where she taught Sunday school in the Primary Department; was Circle Chairman several times; and Circle bible leader. She was a past president of the Presbyterian Women's Association and was honored by being elected a life member of this group. Mrs. Kerby also served the church as an Elder. Mrs. Kerby was active in the community where she served as president of the Rose Garden Club, president of the Florence Crittendon Junior Board, and was on the board of Hillside Cottages. She was active in the Atlanta Chapter of the Agnes Scott Alumnae Group. She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Kerby Bauer of Huntington, WV and Claire Kerby Danielson of Atlanta; nephews Richard A. Hills, Thomas D. Hills, James Dunn, and Mark Dunn; nieces Derrill McRae, Joanne Campbell, and Laney McCrumb; and numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, May 22 in the Lenbrook Events Center, 3747 Peachtree Rd., NE, Atlanta, GA 30319 (http://lenbrook-atlanta.org/).
