Michael Burnett Campbell was born in Chattanooga, TN, to Nick and Ina on March 30, 1955. He spent his early years playing in the hills of Tennessee and the waters of Clearwater, FL, before landing in San Antonio, Texas, where he spent most of his childhood and formative years riding, ranching, and working in the oil fields.
After graduating from Oklahoma Christian College and The University of Oklahoma with an MBA, he moved to Atlanta, GA, where he hatched a plan to meet girls by “helping” at his friend and mentor’s end -of-semester dinner parties. The plan worked. He met Debbie, and it was truly love at first sight for both of them; they married in December 1982 in New York City.
Michael turned his deep love for adventure and exploration into an incredible career creating unique incentive travel experiences for companies around the globe, and as a result was able to visit over 144 countries. Michael was loved near and far and had friendships everywhere he went around the world. His gift was sharing new places and new experiences with those he loved most, especially with his children, Alex and Kelly, to create the kinds of memories that couldn’t be bought.
Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family and delighted in sharing all of life’s adventures with them. Michael’s favorite title was becoming “Poppy” to his grandchildren, and he loved knowing his legacy of adventure will carry on.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Nick Campbell and Ina Morris; his stepfather, Winston Morris; and his sister, Lisa Bellows.
Michael is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children, Alex Campbell (Louisa) and Kelly Campbell; and his grandchildren, John and Eleanor Campbell.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at H.M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, followed by a reception.
