

Rex was born January 7, 1923, in Wenatchee, Washington and died in Atlanta, surrounded by family, on November 1, 2015.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and attended college under the G.I. Bill. Rex worked at General Motors for 40 years at plants in Kansas City, Missouri; Linden, New Jersey; and Doraville, Georgia. He was Superintendent of Quality Control when he retired in 1983.
Rex met Patricia Rouen at a dance at the Olathe Navy Base where he was an aviation cadet, and they were married on December 7, 1946. Rex was married to the love of his life for almost 69 years.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and many other loving family members including: daughter Kathleen and her husband Craig Chastney, daughter Susan and her husband Jules Beal, granddaughter Melanie Nellis Buckmaster and her husband Jeremy Buckmaster, grandson Jules Beal and his wife Monica Smith, granddaughter Elise Beal, great-grandchildren Amelia Grace Buckmaster and Desmond Smith Beal, honorary grandson Sam Rhodes, his wife Lindsay, and their children Maddux and J.T.
He was met in heaven by his beloved granddaughter Michelle Nellis and an assortment of cherished dogs: Blitz, Bitsy, Tadd, Tidbit, and Sadie.
Rex enjoyed 92 years of life, knew no strangers, was never at a loss for words, and touched many lives. One of his favorite charities is Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, 1275 Peachtree St NE #500, Atlanta, GA 30309.
This weekend Masses will be said for Rex at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Dunwoody, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, and on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 7 a.m.; 8:30 a.m.; 10 a.m.; 11:30 a.m.; and 5 p.m.
