Dick Smith died peacefully on Sept 16th, 2017 at age 92.
He was born in Atlanta GA to Ludolph A. Smith and Estelle Jones Smith in 1925. He graduated Boys High in Atlanta, served in the US Navy in WWII in the South Pacific, Guam and Shanghai. He later earned a BS in Biology from Emory University. Dick worked at Lockheed Georgia for over 30 years, published many scientific papers, earned numerous patents and was chief scientist at their research laboratory. He was a great husband, father and friend. Dick loved music, the outdoors, and all flora and fauna. He had tremendous curiosity , drive and energy. In the 1950's he took night classes at John Marshall and got a law degree.
Dick was predeceased by his dear sister Janie Louise Smith. He is survived by his beloved wife Eunice Smith; their sons Richard Jr., his wife Candace, their daughter Allison and son Zachary; Philip and his wife Pamela; Clifton and his daughter Sarah; and many nieces and nephews.
