I am stunned to hear that Bob Rosterman has passed away. I just found this our nearly 2 months after it happened. I first heard from Bob last Oct. when he wrote to me out of the blue. He had read of my work honoring classic films here in Omaha NE. We spoke many times on the phone and he wrote alot of letters too! We finally met on April 29 when I was a guest of the Turner Classic Movies film festival in LA where I was a guest speaker, we bumped into each other when he was getting a drink at the green room where I was waiting to go on stage at the Chinese Theater. We stood by one another for a minute before we realized who was who! My last letter from him was May 18 and he died just barely a month and a half later, but I just now found it out. I wish I would have known and I would have attended the service in Blair. I will miss his letters and our phone calls.

I worked with Bob at 20th Century Fox, and for the next 30 years Bob would send me correspondence on a weekly basis...at least! He knew that I loved Frank Sinatra and he never forgot a birthday, always sending me clippings, new albums, books, etc. about Frank. I will miss you Robert, and my mailbox seems strangely sad and empty...

Bob was not only a former co-worker and fellow film addict but also a friend to all of my family. My children referred to him as "Uncle Bob" and he was always interested in, fascinated by , and complimentary and encouraging   about my grandson's adventures with me.
  He was such a happy, optimistic,nice person with a giant zest for life. 
   You'll never be forgotten.

I would to thank all of Uncle Bob's friends for thinking so much of him thru the years.We all miss him deeply.He is my mother's younger brother (GOLDIE ROSTERMAN FLEURY).Mom said as a child he loved the movies.He would cut out movie stars and paste the pictures in a scrap book.He was catching the bus from Blair to Omaha at nine years old to watch the movies.We all received birthday cards since childhood-this will be the first year I will not read 'Love and Kisses',UNCLE BOB.He always called Mom and Aunt Ruth every week even when was out of town.He lived his life the way he wanted and I think it was fate that he died in Atlanta.

It was a privilege to have Robert Rosterman as my uncle. He was the most thoughtful and loving soul.  He instilled in me at an early age the love of Gone With the Wind and classic movies. I will miss his letters and his sharing of movie trivia with me.  Thanks Uncle Bob for all the books and films you've sent me over the years. "Bolt the door Maria!"

Bob Rosterman was a real gentleman who shared his love of Gone With The Wind and classic films in general with the Windies and others. 

He encouraged you to share your knowledge and thoughts and he was an eager student, always wanting to know more!  

He will be missed dearly by the Windies.

I've known of Bob since his 1963, when I read his Films in Review profile about Judy (no need to say Judy Who...), published a year earlier. We met at Chicago Garland concerts in 1965 and 1967; shared his New York visits after I relocated there; and I've never ceased being grateful for his memory, his memories, and his clear-eyed, common-sensical, yet unfailingly-"boy fan"-ish passion. He loved his friends and he loved life; it was our privilege to embrace him in return. I hope Heaven has some good, late-night spots; after all, Rosa Moline wasn't the stay-at-home-and-retire-early type!  God bless Bob. -- John Fricke (New York, NY)

Bob Rosterman was a very special man.  When Bob was around, you did not need access to imdb.com as Bob had all the titles, dates, and cast members in his head.  He loved Gone With the Wind, Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, and all the greats of Hollywood's Golden Age.  I will miss him each and every week because I always looked forward to his wonderful letters.   God bless you Bob!

Bob was a wonderful friend to all who knew him, and I was privileged to be one of those people. He will be missed, but constantly talked bout, which will please him immensely.

"Gone With The Wind" has lost a true supporter, and we are all a little less because Rosty is no longer with us. He's having barbeque at Twelve Oaks, teasing Mammy about her red petticoat. .

There never was a more gentle, joyful personality than Bob Rosterman. Marcella Rabwin had always said how she loved his letters on "that delicious manila stationary." His enthusiasm for the movies and the theater was so contagious and I learned so much from him. I will miss him more than I can say.

I am a better person because I had a friend named Bob Rosterman.  I wonder if he knows how much I'll miss his weekly letters and the clippings about Charles Schultz and the Peanuts gang (a great love of mine) that he would happen across?

Rosty was the kindest person I've ever known and any overture made to a friend was genuine and sincere always.  

I dare say his very full heart stopped beating from the weight of all the love he felt for his friends and family.  

Peace be with you, Rosty, my wonderful friend.  I hope Tara is as beautiful as you always thought it to be.

We have been privileged to know Robert Rosterman for a number of years.  His knowledge of show biz, and his love for the stars of yesteryear ran very deep.  Bob was very modest and unassuming re: his vast array of friends and acquaintenances, both famous and not so famous.  A group of us met for dinner each month in Chicago to discuss older music and movies, and to generally share a laugh or two.  Bob was a great and thoughtful friend and a very kind, and generous man.  He will be sorely missed.
