

Mr. Thomas Henier Maddux died on February 26, 2010. Mr. Maddux was born on December 26, 1922, in Eufaula, Alabama. He was the son of Thomas Clarence Maddux and Addie Henier Maddux. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Myrtis Griffin Maddux, Chamblee; daughter Nan Griffin Maddux, Atlanta; son Harry Thomas Maddux and daughter-in-law Catherine Maddux, Waterford, Virginia; grandson 1 Lt. Thomas Parks Maddux (USA), Williamsburg, Virginia; grandson Andrew Taliaferro Maddux, Waterford, Virginia; stepbrother Ashton Johnson (Myrtle), Eufaula, Alabama; stepsister Mae Johnson Allen, Montgomery, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Maddux served in the United States Navy in World War II in the Pacific Fleet as a radar officer, and received a decoration for valor. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, and had a long career with the railroad, retiring from Norfolk Southern Corporation. Mr. Maddux was also a long term member of Johns Creek Baptist Church.
Visitation will be at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, on Monday, March 1 at 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service following at noon. Mr. Maddux will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Park. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association (Atlanta).
