William “Bill” Virgle Hedden passed away February 19, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia. Bill was born February 20, 1941 the son of Thomas Bartlett Hedden and Zada Pope Hedden in Valdese, North Carolina. Bill was a supportive husband, father, and grandfather.
Bill is survived by his wife Linda Lee, his only child Jennifer H Estes and husband Morris C Estes, granddaughters Julia Elyse and Ashlee Grace Estes, brother J Thomas Hedden and Mary Alice, brother-in-law Dr John P Hackett and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Dr Carol H Hackett.
Bill graduated the class of 1960 at Happy Valley High School, Patterson, North Carolina and earned a Bachelor in Science from Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina.
Bill had an engineering career of thirty-two years combined at Southern Bell, Bell Laboratories, BellSouth and AT&T. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and woodworker. He enjoyed relaxing with family and friends at their coastal home.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
