William Craig Woodson, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 60. A resident of Fulton County, Atlanta, Georgia, Craig was born on August 19, 1965, at Fort Campbell Military Hospital in Kentucky, to William Bryan Woodson and the late Joanne Haddon Woodson.
Craig lived a life rich with curiosity, compassion, and connection. He was a graduate of Auburn University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, and went on to build a respected career in the fire protection industry. For more than two decades, Craig served with Viking Group, Inc., holding positions including National Customer Service Manager, Operations Analyst, Fabrication Expeditor, National Technical Representative/Business Development, and Inside Sales. He also worked as a Fire Sprinkler Designer—both freelance and with Jarrett Fire Protection, LLC in Nashville, Tennessee—where he earned NICET Level I and II certifications. At the time of his passing, Craig was preparing for his NICET Level III Water-Based Systems Layout Certification and had recently accepted a position with Wiginton Fire Systems, a role he was deeply excited to begin. Even during his illness, Craig’s dedication and optimism shone through as he planned for this next chapter.
Beyond his professional achievements, Craig was a man of wide-ranging passions. He was an avid lover of music, especially jazz, and a devoted reader of history and biographies of influential figures. A true world traveler, Craig visited every continent, with Ethiopia holding a special place in his heart. He delighted in simple joys—riding his bike, engaging with neighbors and strangers alike, sharing coffee with a friend, or enjoying a glass of wine in good company. Craig’s warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others made him a companion to many and a stranger to none.
Craig is preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Haddon Woodson; his grandparents, Hulon and Ruth Ann Haddon, Ewing Bryan and Beulah Ester Woodson, and James Macklin and Julia Ann Haddon.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Ret. Col. William Bryan Woodson and Lynda Woodson; his sister, Janice Woodson Beattie, and her husband, Clint; his nephews, William Horatio Brown VI, Joshua Adam Brown, and Kelton Mason Beattie and his wife, Andrea; his niece, Reyna Nicole Beattie; and his great-niece and nephew, Camila Jolie Beattie and Knox Zeno Beattie. He is also survived by his cousins Joy Woodson Martin (Paul), Linda Haddon Temple, Cinda Haddon, Christopher Gill (Stephanie), James Macklin Gill, and Gigi Gill; his Godson, Arete Agazi, with parents Eleni Nega and Agazi Kidani; and many extended family members and cherished friends.
