Antoine Abdallah Akl, 33, of Toney, AL, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2025, in Florence, AL. Born on August 15, 1991, in Huntsville, Antoine grew up in Toney, AL, where he developed a love for adventure, a zest for life, and a passion for learning.
Antoine was a proud Eagle Scout and active volunteer, embodying dedication and leadership from a young age. He graduated early from Sparkman High School in 2009 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from Athens State University. Recently, he had been accepted into the MBA program at the University of North Alabama, where he planned to further his education and pursue new professional opportunities.
Antoine worked as a restaurant manager and took great pride in his role, managing various establishments and connecting with countless individuals. His love for his work was matched only by his love for his hobbies, which included video gaming, PC building, driving cars, drumming, and boating. He also enjoyed walking his dogs, Atlas and Octavius, and spending time with his fiancée, Elizabeth Timm, to whom he was engaged. Together, they were excitedly planning their future, including purchasing their first home. Antoine’s life was filled with love and connection
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ewing Walker Battles III (grandfather) and Antoine Abdallah Akl (grandfather).
He is survived by his parents, Abdallah Antoine Akl and Derece Battles Akl; his brother, Jonathan Akl; his grandmother, Georgette Akl; his godparents and grandparents, Dr. Elias and Nectar Ghafary, and Vera (Tracy) Evers and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, Sonny (Emily) Battles, Roy and Sylvie Dagher (Ryan, Serena), Cindy Boustain (Sam and Andrew), Kay Bagget (Ryan and Miranda), Darrell and Karla Battles (Dalainley, Kade, and Olivia), Vicky Akl Nehme (Rami and Cynthia), Bernard and Geraldine Dagher (Gaelle and Keyan), and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held on June 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Morgan Funeral Chapel, followed by a service officiated by Reverend Randy Watts of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Antoine will be laid to rest at Rainbow Memorial Gardens in Gadsden, AL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, an organization that reflects Antoine’s commitment to helping others. His family would like to extend special thanks to God for blessing them with an extraordinary son who will always be loved and cherished.
Antoine will forever be remembered as a kind; adventurous soul who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. May his memory be eternal.
