He was born in Anchorage, Alaska on September 13, 2953, to parents Walter and Mary Moon, who preceded him in passing.
Danny was well known for his extraordinary musical talent and unique style. He picked up his first guitar at the age of 14, and so began his life-long pursuit as a musician, with many other instruments to follow. He taught countless others to play guitar and led even more down their own, individual musical paths.
Danny was a patriot and a veteran of the U.S. Military, where he served his country in the Air National Guard. After leaving the military, he settled in to a job at Goodyear for many years before returning to his musical passion at Gadsden Music Company.
As a young adult, Danny became heavily involved in Yoshukai Karate, another passion that he followed throughout his life.
He is survived by his “angel,” Kathryn Minshew; children, Kristopher, Brandy, and Kasarra Moon; sister, Valinda Stewart; grandchildren, Kyllan Smith, Kristian, Kanaan, and Kaleb Moon; special family, Michael, Melanie, Cole, and Luke McCollum, Sam and Mollie Minshew, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Danny always strived to be both student and teacher of music, martial arts, philosophy, and life. His presence has impacted so many people. His absence will created a hole not only for his family, but for the entire community. However, the reverb of Danny Moon will continue to be heard for generations.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, November 25, 2018, from 3-5pm at Morgan Funeral Chapel. His service will begin at 5pm, with a memorial concert to follow at the Pitman Theatre of Gadsden.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Moonsong Fund, helping underprivileged children get their first musical instruments. And always remember to support your local music scene.
