David was raised on the truth of God’s word and the Golden Rule by a beloved mother and a father who were his first and finest hero. Inspired by the “white hat” code of Roy Rogers from Saturday matinees at the Princess Theatre in Attalla, David spent his life striving to be “one of the good guys.” He sang gospel music with his mother and brother while his father supported their group with steadfast dedication.
A lover of Louis L’Amour novels and John Wayne westerns, James balanced hard work with a deep commitment to family. He spent countless hours cheering at ballgames, manning concession stands (perfecting the art of burning a hotdog just right for Mom), and teaching his children life lessons through quiet example. Though he was stubborn and old-fashioned, he was also wonderfully imperfect—a husband, father, and grandfather who embodied love in action.
Dementia may have touched his final years, but it could never diminish the precious memories or the enduring pride felt by those who were privileged to call him their own “Good Guy.”
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 11 a.m. to noon at Morgan’s Funeral Home, followed by a service in the Chapel at noon. May David’s memory continue to inspire all who knew him.
