Jamie Carroll Burton

Mr. Jamie Carroll Burton age 86 of Steele passed from this life to join his Lord in Heaven on May 26, 2019. The family will receive friends for visitation at Chandler Mountain Baptist Church on Wednesday May 29th from 12:30 to 2 P.M., with funeral service immediately following at 2. Graveside Service and Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Rev. Danny Wise & Rev. Larry Mann will officiate the funeral service. Danny Bowlin will offer the committal prayer.

Mr. Burton was a longtime member of Chandler Mtn. Baptist Church, and served the church as a deacon for many years. He was a member of the Alabama Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame , a lifelong tomato farmer in the Chandler Mountain community, and an advisor for Ashville Savings Bank’s Steele Branch. Those preceding him in death include; Parents, James C. and Othella Burton; Sisters, Marguerite (Jack) Beason, Chasteen (Dempsey) Brothers, and Gwendolyn (Fred) Derusso; brother, Anthony (Shirley) Burton.

Jamie leaves behind his loving wife of sixty-nine and a half years, Marlene Burton.

Their devoted sons; Keith (Sandy) Burton, Kenneth (Nancy Jo) Burton, and Chris (Lynn) Burton.

Grandchildren; Corey (Brent) Phillips, Stephanie (Shane) Rogers, Joey (Tracy) Cash, Wes (Michelle) Burton, Brian (Paige) Cash, Brandon (Brandi) Burton and Eric Burton.

Sisters; Edwina (Jim) Luther, Linda (Danny) Bowlin, and Nancy West.

Along with thirteen great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chandler Mountain Baptist church.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Joey Cash, Brian Cash, Wes Burton, Brent Phillips, Brandon Burton and Eric Burton.

Honorary pallbearers; Rodney Burton, Cameron Tillman, Shane Rogers, Robert Barnes- deacons of Chandler Mtn. Baptist Church.
