Mrs. Jimmie Sue Watts, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, along with her grandson Chris on April 13, 2026. She was born on May 1, 1936, in Gadsden, Alabama, and was a longtime resident of Southside.
Mrs. Watts was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family and serving others. She worked as a sitter, at Baptist Hospital earlier in life but found her greatest joy in her home and church. She was a member of First Assembly of God, now known as New Season Assembly of God of Southside. A talented pianist, she played in church and was actively involved in women's ministry, including jail ministry, missions, and teaching Sunday school. She also enjoyed singing duets in church, often alongside her beloved husband, Alton.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Sue had a special way of making others feel important, loved, and cared for. She cherished her family deeply and created many wonderful memories, especially during time spent together at the beach. Christmas was her favorite time of year, a season she filled with the warmth of her smile, joy, and love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Watts; her daughter, Teresa Watts; and her son Ricky.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Watts; her daughters, Vickie Chastain and Kimberly Watts; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Tim Grimes and Minister April Bearden. Interment will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Watts, Christopher Watts, Jerry Hayes, Damon White, Alan Bunnell, and Marc Anthony.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Season Assembly of God of Southside.
Mrs. Watts will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her until we meet again.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to speaker, Richard Whitt, for the reflection of memories of her life.
