
PAGE, John Gill “Jack”, age 70, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away Monday, December 14th, 2020. He was a graduate of Berry High School in Birmingham, AL, in 1968, received his Associates degree from Gadsden State University in 1975 and received his BA in history and sociology from Jacksonville State University in 1977.
During his life, Jack accomplished many things. He was a proud Marine and served in the Vietnam War. He was a teacher, a firefighter, a small business owner, a councilman for the city of Gadsden, and a state representative for District 29 for 18 years.
Jack loved the city of Gadsden and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Gadsden. He was a member of the following civic organizations: the Marine Corps League (co-founder of McLaughlin branch), Downtown Gadsden Inc., the Masonic Order, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans Association, the Alabama City Lions Club, Gadsden-Etowah Chamber of Commerce, and Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime member and president of the Alabama Gun Collectors Association and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and “antique-ing”.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Gill Page, Jr, his mother Mary Mueller, and his brother William Page.
He is survived by his wife Becky, his daughter Courtney (Jeremy) Page Botto of West Palm Beach, FL, his sons John Page of Gadsden, AL, and Gill Page of New Orleans, LA, his sisters Shannon (Richard) Champion of Birmingham, AL, Mary Margaret Page of Rockledge, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a scholarship in his name. Donations should be addressed to the McLaughlin Det Marine Corp For Sgt. John G. “Jack” Page Scholarship Fund and mailed to McLaughlin Detachment 1091, Post Office Box 8146, Gadsden, AL 35902.
