Mr. Trentham was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Trentham and Ina Mae Trentham, and brother, Roger Trentham. Mr. Trentham is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doris Jean Trentham, and children, Gregory Duryea (Tisha) Trentham and Elizabeth Trentham (Kerry) Gowens; along with grandchildren, Jorja Trentham, Judah Trentham, and Jonah Trentham; his nephew, Brian (Lawanda) Trentham; and sister, Joy Phillips.
Ken loved his family dearly and devoted his life to them and others. Mr. Trentham served his country for 22 years, from 1974 to 1996, in the Alabama Air National Guard. Mr. Trentham later went on to work with the Alabama Air National Guard in a civilian capacity. Duryea was a long-time employee of Gulf States Steel, Inc. in Gadsden, Alabama. Ken and his dad, Paul, also worked in their home woodshop crafting cabinetry: a craft he would teach to his son, Gregory, and nephew, Brian. When Ken was not working, he enjoyed playing tennis, fishing, and traveling.
The funeral for Mr. Trentham will be held at Bethlehem United Baptist Church in Gallant, Alabama on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with funeral services starting at noon. Pastor Clay Spears and Rev. Donald McClendon will officiate the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Trentham, Brandon Trentham, Gary Pentecost, Stanley Gilliland, Melvin Copeland, and Sonny Washburn.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to his fellow “Guard Buddies” that lovingly helped with his care and transportation to treatments during his battle with brain cancer; the communities, churches, neighbors, pastors, and friends that offered their prayers and friendship; and to Rick’s Discount Drugs in Attalla, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to your local VFW or the Gallant First Baptist Church cemetery fund.
