

Funeral services for Mary Ruth Hare Farmer (87), of Southside, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Farmer went to be with her Lord, Monday, June 5, 2017. The Rev. Jack Smith, the Rev. Scott Hassell, and Austin Kidd will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Farmer was born in Gadsden, Alabama, on May 20, 1930. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Southside. She was also a member of the El Senor Club of Gadsden and Southside, Southside Seniors Club, RSVP, Go Go Grandparents Band, and the Golden Girls Canasta Club. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and also her chosen sons, Bill Humphries, Lynn McCary, Vance Roberson, and Mark and Phillip Semrick.
She is survived by husband, Johnny Richard Farmer; children, Patricia (Wayne) Humphries, Larry Hare (Regina), Dennis (Judy) Hare, Scott (Patti) Farmer, and Tiffany (Jason) Young; grandchildren, Wendy (Kasey) Kidd, Cindy (Michael) Rich, Chris (Tori) Humphries, Carey (Jane) Humphries, Greg Hare, Amy (Dustin) Diggs, Jaime (Tom) Barber, Chad (Emily) Hare, Heather (Jason) Chiarella, Dalton (Kayla) Farmer, and Tyler Young; great grandchildren, Austin (Caroline), Addison, and Adam Kidd, Jordan (Chris) Leonhardt, Alex and Michael Rich, Parker, Miller, and Bella Humphries, Janie and Alan Humphries, Anderson Brown, Haven, Mia, and Cade Diggs, Sydney, Shelby, and Cody Barber, David, John, and Vivian Hare, and chosen great granddaughter Allysa Smedley; great great grandchildren, Colt and Adeline Kidd; brother, Richard (Ann) Parton; sisters, Frances Watts, Carol (Jack) Smith, Gloria (Randy) Thompson, and Rosie (Milton) Jernigan.
She was preceded in death by husband of 38 years, Webster M. Hare; daughter, Janice Hare Luttrell; parents, William Sherman Parton and Cornelia Elizabeth Parton Henson; brothers, Donald Parton and Buddy Parton.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Special thanks to Dr. Jason Ayres, Dr. Boyella, and Dr. Hwang, of Gadsden, and also to Dr. Ahmed, Dr. Ayers, and Dr. Brouillette, and the entire West Wing of the 5th floor of Princeton Medical Center in Birmingham. Special thanks to nurses Kim, Verline, Pam, and April of Kindred Home Health.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
