The Lord opened His ever merciful arms to our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Michael Henry Hawkins, age 73, on December 15, 2020. Mike was devoted to his business, family, church, but most of all, his living testament to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Mike was a resident of Attalla and business owner of Michael’s Glass and Mirror. He was a 1965 graduate of Etowah High School and a faithful member of Ivalee Baptist Church. Those who knew Mike knew his desire for perfection with his craftsmanship, his love for bringing joy to others, and his enjoyment of being with his family. Whether storytelling at the table, fishing in the lake, singing with the choir, or teaching children in Sunday school, he did it all wholeheartedly to the Lord. If he were with us today, he wouldn't want us to focus on the sadness of his death, but instead on the goodness of our Lord.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Sue and Leon Hawkins; brother, Jeff Hawkins, and grandson, Grant Cowgill.
He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Hawkins; daughters, Terri (Jeff) Elliott and Leslie Hawkins; sons, Lane (Lorri) Taylor and Corey (Amy) Taylor; grandchildren, Katie (Tyler) Browning, Zac (Haley) Taylor, Cody (Samantha) Taylor, AJ Taylor, Kyle Minshew, Emma Smith, Ty Taylor, Calleigh Elliott and Andrew Elliott; and great-grandson, Cooper Mac Taylor; sisters, Suzanne Hawkins and Marjorie (Bill) Cleckley and brother, Stanley Hawkins. He also leaves behind his beloved pet “Suzy Q.”
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 18, 2020. Visitation is 4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. service at 6:30 P.M. Officiated by Brother Jeremy Jones.
