A graveside service for Patricia will be held at Forrest Cemetery on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

Chase Dowdy will officiate.

Patricia was a founding member of Stowers Hill Baptist Church, where she loved teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and cooking countless meals for every occasion.

She retired from Attalla City Schools, where she was everyone's favorite lunchroom lady.

Many knew her through her passion for running and cycling. She started running at age 56, competing in races across the southeast. When her running days were over you could find her riding her bicycle near and far. She was never afraid to do hard things. She inspired those around her to do the same. The world is a better place because she was in it.

Patricia was preceded in death by her precious parents, Odell and Lorraine Buffington; her beloved husband of 66 years, Earl McClain.

Patricia is survived by her children, Paul (Lisa) McClain, David (Regina) McClain, James Michael (Mary Jo) McClain, Elizabeth (Mark) Wilson, and John (Terri) McClain; she was also loved by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Mary Conley with Heaven's Helpers. Her expert care, kindness and love will never be forgotten. They would also like to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice, especially Ashley Edwards, RN.
