Rebecca Elizabeth (Ashley) Blakely

Rebecca Elizabeth Ashley Blakely, age 96 of Altoona passed away February 11, 2023. Funeral Service will be at 1p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at First Baptist Gallant with Bro. Jeff Rowan and Bro. Tom Brown officiating. Mrs. Blakely will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 11am until 1pm. Burial at Moodys Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will also be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 5 until 8pm.

Mrs. Blakely was born in Gadsden, Alabama. She graduated as Valedictorian of Walnut Grove High School and Draughan Business College. She worked for Arrow Shirt Factory, Hopper Telephone, and Health Tex. She enjoyed going on numerous Mission Trips to Wyoming, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, and Indiana. Mrs. Blakely loved telling others about Jesus and invested that love in the lives of many children. She loved her family and selflessly gave herself to them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Zena Clark Ashley; husband, Willard Blakely; son in law, Rodney Scott; brothers, Bryon, William, Richard; sisters, Della Ruth, Catherine, Ernestine, Mae, and Ruby.

She is survived by her son, Don Blakely; daughter, Carol Scott; chosen children, Terry and Tamara, Kathy and Bobby, and Tim; chosen grandchildren, Brianna and Ryan, Matt and Jessica, Lucian, Grayson, Misty and Trent, Bentley, Keith and Melissa, Bristol, Blake and Jessica, Andralea, Emmalynn, Liliana, Vailorie and Chase; sister, Sue Green; special nieces, Kay Payne, Elaine Martin, Sarah Hutchins; sister in law, Jamie Ashley and many other dearly loved nephews and nieces.

Special thanks given to all who have prayed for her and loved on her throughout the past years.

Pallbearers will be Danny Fowler, Steve McClendon, Matt Blakely, Frankie Ashley, Blake Summerford, Keith Summerford, Lucian Blakely, and Grayson Blakely.
