He was preceded in death by his father Wilburt Titon Nelson; mother, Frances Curby Nelson; brother, Don Nelson; sister, Tammy Reagan; nephew, Little Don Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Nelson of 34 years. They were separated at the time of his passing. He also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; his side kick was his niece, Rachel Nelson.
