William "Gene" Stephens

William Eugene “Gene” Stephens, age 88 of Attalla went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. His family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Morgan Funeral Chapel directing.

Gene was well loved and trusted by all of his many friends and loved ones. He was an avid Alabama Fan and Nascar Fan. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh, even up until his last days. He enjoyed restoring old cars and entering them in car shows. He won numerous trophies and awards for his antique cars. Gene loved the Lord and loved to share his faith with others. He was confident his eternal home was in heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Mary Baker Stephens; sister, Ruby Ford (Woodrow) and step-daughter, Misty Loggins.

Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Janice Stephens; children: Rhonda Stephens, Tonya Stephens and Amy August; step-daughters: Valerie Womack and Tracy Vann; sister, Sue Leftwich (Johnny); grandchildren: Brittany Malkiewicz, Eli Cosper, Job Stephens (Jess), Alyssa Kontos, Theo Kontos, Trey Nance and Colin Nance; step-grandchildren: Savanna Bustion (Brandon), Heather Vann, Sam Womack, Seth Womack and Sydnee Childress; great grandchildren: Jayce and Jayden Malkiewicz and Lance, Honor and Bravery Stephens; step-great grandchildren: Emmy, Ethan and Everly and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
