Abigail was born Aug. 3, 1990, to parents Robert and Susan Smeja in Sacramento, CA. She was the sixth born in a family of thirteen children. Abby, age 26, was sent to her forever home on May 26, 2017. In Heaven, she will be met by her sister, Stacie Anne Elaine Smeja, and her beloved Aunt Erica.
In her childhood, Abby was known for her spirited leadership and ambition. She was always part of a team, whether it was soccer, basketball, or cheer-leading. She was a high school graduate of Valley Christian Academy in Roseville (class 2008). She had aspirations to work in the nursing field and hoped to put her nurturing personality to use by caring for the elderly. Abby was fluent in American Sign Language and loved to connect to others with this skill. Her lifelong passions included music, dance, art, and community. She described herself as wild at heart and her motto was to always seek serendipity.
Abby is survived by her parents and a stepfather, three sisters, eight brothers, two sisters-in-law, three nieces, one nephew, and a large extended family. Most proudly and lovingly, she is survived by her three-year-old daughter, Anastasia Elaine. We will forever look to Anastasia so that we can continue to see Abby's famous, radiant smile. A graveside service will be held Tues., June 6, 2pm, at the New Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, California.
