3/28/1938-3/18/2015
Born in Los Angeles on March 28, 1938 Christine was taken home to her Lord suddenly and unexpectedly on March 18, 2015. She was 76 years old.
Christine was one of two daughters born to Benjamin and Mary Emma Salmon. Ben was a brilliant aeronautical engineer whose projects included the P-38 fighter from WWII, and the Ryan Fireball carrier based fighter. Christine would move from west to east coasts and back, but called San Diego home. She graduated from Hoover High in 1956 and San Diego State in 1960. After receiving her teaching credential, Christine went on to teach Elementary and Middle School for nearly forty years in the El Cajon, Burbank and Temecula school districts. She was distinguished with multiple recognitions including Teacher of the Year. She was loved by her students and gained the respect of staff and administration alike.
Christine’s pursuits and hobbies were numerous. She loved music and literature, playing piano from childhood. She had horses, raised sheep, and grew avocados while living in Fallbrook, CA. She was an accomplished artist, chef, seamstress, gardener, horticulturalist, and Bible scholar. Her love and guiding light was above all her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Christine was blessed with two children, Curtis and Caryn, and their lives would settle them in Northern California as adults. After retirement, Christine moved to Auburn in 2001. She quickly became active in the church fellowship at Calvary Chapel Auburn, where she would lead or attend Bible Studies and have an impact for Christ in many lives. Two grandchildren, Merrick and Emory, would have the wonderful experience of a science teacher, music teacher, and Bible scholar to spend afternoons with after school. Her influence on all three grandchildren will be with them forever.
Christine is survived by her son Curtis Phillips (Patricia) of Sonoma, her daughter Caryn Slane (David) of Auburn, and three grandchildren- Merrick and Emory Slane, and Morgan Phillips.
Her family wishes to thank her many friends, home Bible Study ladies, and the Calvary Chapel fellowship all of which were an essential part of her daily life.
A celebration will be held at Calvary Chapel Auburn on Friday, April 24 at 4 PM.
