Ophir resident “Doc” Santini passed away July 2nd. Born only 100 yards from his current home, he was a community mainstay. A 1941 Placer H.S. graduate, he served as an MP/radioman in the Philippines/Japan. After the war he joined the family ranching business, helping found the 49er Fruit Trail and Auburn Farmers Market. A founding member of the Ophir Fire Dept., he was also a member of the Farm Bureau, American Legion, VFW.
Predeceased by parents Italo and Pia, sister Lea, daughter Joan, and daughter-in-law Berdean, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; sister Anna Manzinali; sons David and Mike (Dena) Santini and John Brifnek; grandchildren Kelie (Brad), Mathew (Lindsay), Carrah (Josh), Katie, Daniel (Tina); great-grandchildren Thomas, Aiden, Hudson, Chase; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

Services to be held Friday, July 13th, 11am at the New Auburn Cemetery, 1040 Collins Drive.
