Belated Condolence:
Oddly, last night I dreamed about a broken piano leg of baby grand piano. We have an upright piano. I contacted a local piano repair man. He said there was only one man that could bring our piano back to health, that was Dennis Marriott and he had passed on. 

Then I remembered how Dennis Marriott had repaired our broken Yamaha 🎹 piano after the moving company had destroyed our piano move from Washington. It took a month or so, but Dennis brought the keyboard cover he had matched the varnish color and had already repainted and matched the other nicks and scrapes on the piano. This was in 1998, our life was upset with move to Roseville, CA. With the piano repairs, our now son's could continue their piano lessons. 

I have fond memories of Mr. Dennis Marriot, over the next 17 years he cared for our piano and kept it in tune. We had many conversations and learned he was of faith. I enjoyed his piano playing at end of the annual tuning session. 

He was a kind and thoughtful Christian man. I had been an amateur painter and Dennis praised my talent and encouraged me to keep on painting and would ask to see any of my new works. Even with only an hour each year Dennis remembered our conversations. We were not just a customer to Dennis we were friends.

There are many souls we encounter in our lives. Dennis Clinton Marriott was the real deal, a soft, friendly, kind soul and was always genuine. The last time I saw Dennis was in 2014. I had been hospitalized for a year and cooperating for next 3 years. 

I know when I had this dream last night? Dennis Clinton Marriott was in a better place and is he is in God’s Book of Life. I am looking forward to seeing Dennis Clinton Marriott again.

   Dennis Marriott was already established at Marriott's Music store when I moved to Auburn in 1988.  Having a lifelong interest in music, it wasn't long before I found myself wandering into his store fairly regularly and found him to be my kind of person..polite, friendly, enthusiastic.."old school." 
    Dennis helped me find many books  of music for me to learn songs from on my guitar, and ultimately, he sold me a Rickenbacher with a custom case, for a very good deal new, so I could toy around with Beatles' songs (and others) a bit more seriously.
   After the store closed, I missed Dennis in my rounds & often wondered what happened to him, and certainly evertime I see the 'Starbucks' building where we used to visit, I remember him well and with Great fondness.  I look forward to having him tell me more about music when conditions permit.   May God bless you forever Dennis.


My husband and I were so saddened to learn Dennis has passed away. 
Dennis has been tuning our piano for 21 years. He was the most gentle and sweet man. We always enjoyed the short conversations when he was here.
He will be missed very much!

I am so very sorry to learn that Dennis has passed.  I was concerned when I hadn't received my annual call to tune my piano; that's when I found out he had passed.  He was a wonderful, kind human being.  I will miss him very much.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the the loss of Dennis.  We needed to have a piano tuned only to find the number no longer working.  After a little research, we now know of his passing.  We have known Dennis way back to the music store days.  He was a wonderful man and Elaine and I feel very fortunate to have him touch our lives.  I'm glad I got to see him in December when he came to tune our piano.  His kindness, generosity, and gentle demeanor will be greatly missed.

I started playing piano as a child in the 70's, and Mr. Marriott is the only piano tuner I remember.  He was just here this past November, 2015. I always enjoyed and looked forward to our visits about family, service and faith. "In moments like these, I sing out a song, I sing out a love song, to Jesus. In moments like these, I lift up my hands, I lift up my hands to the Lord."  God bless you.  He will be missed.  Love to all.

I will miss Dennis..his softness kindness and his ears. I am grateful I got to know and enjoy his welcoming sense..my warmest thoughts to you..

Dear Karen,  your loss is shared by many who had the privilege of knowing your sweet husband.  I appreciate so much the fellowship he shared in ministry as he welcomed us back into the community after being away for so many years.  Dennis' kind, loving and warm spirit will remain a testimony to those whose life he touched, indeed, he conveyed God's love.

Mr. Marriott has been tuning my piano for years.  Each visit was such a delight.  He was such a kind, gentle man.  His faith was very evident in the way he lived his life.  We are so sorry for your loss.

Mr. Marriott has tuned my piano for 20 years- since I was a teenager.  He was always so kind, encouraging and showed God's love.  My young sons loved watching him tune our piano too and he always engaged them in conversation.  What a special man God created in Mr. Marriott.  I praise God that he is now in Heaven playing for our Most High King!

Dear Karen, Tim, and Debbie, I'm so sorry for the grief you are journeying through.  You're right, Karen, that it is Christ's sufficiency and grace that will get you through this time.  I loved your family from the first time we met in Glendora so long ago.  I loved to watch you interact as a couple and as parents.  Your total commitment to Jesus and consistent walk with Him all these years has encouraged my heart.  I have been privileged to stay in contact with you each year.  Now, I am praying that you will feel God's love and comfort through this difficult time.  I am also rejoicing with you as we know that we will see Dennis again in Heaven and that will be a great reunion.  Much love, Sally

Dennis and I met when I was almost thirteen and he had his music shop in Auburn. He always had a warm welcome for my parents and I. Even after the store closed we were never out of contact because he also tuned my piano. It was fun when tuning time rolled around, because like clockwork Dennis would call, and we would chat a bit as well as talking about piano stuff. I will always miss getting to hear from him and have the deepest sympathy for the Marriott family. Obviously, the instruments in heaven won't need tuning, but there will be plenty of music. Be seeing you, Mr. Marriott.

Dearest Karen and family, We are so sadden to hear of Dennis' sudden passing.  As neighbors, we shared many happy days.  Your Christian example is a shining example to all to love the Lord with all your heart and soul.

So Sorry to hear of Dennis passing. He was a wonderful man. Karen, I know your sadness because I lost my husband Dave unexpectedly 7 mos ago. I think you will remember me from the Bank. The grief is horrible. When you feel the need please get in touch with me.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Dennis' passing. Dennis was a life-long friend and I have so many great memories of our time together; Our time in college, singing together in the Heralds Quartet and traveling across the US together; and most recently our time together in Auburn as we chatted at Starbucks trying to catch-up on days gone by. He was to me a friend and a model of a true Christian gentleman. During our last few get togethers we chatted about many things, memories, life lessons and the like. But the most important, and urgent thing on his mind was, first and foremost, his deep and abiding passion and compassion for the lost. He was a gentle soul with a fire in his belly for the lost of this world. His zeal and ministry will be sorely missed.

Dennis was also a Friend to our Local Salvation Army Corps. He often tuned our piano and was instrumental in helping locate and procure a grand piano for the church which is used regularly in our worship ministry each Sunday. Recently he visited our men's fellowship meeting and shared his passion for the lost. It would be an understatement if I said I will miss my friend. I love Dennis and He will ever be in my heart and in my memory.

Please know that Joyce and I will be praying for Karin and the family during these difficult days.

Dennis was a dear friend. We grew up together in church, high school and college. I am better because of our friendship and joint interest in music. In college we sang in a male quartet which will always be remembered.  Most important we travelled together in the Christian journey wanting to be more like Jesus.

Uncle Dennis was a great man ... he was gentle, honest, and caring. I will always remember his smile and kind words of encouragement and interest in my life. I remember working with him from time to time at the music store and times I spent with my cousins Tim and Debbie as well as Aunt Karen. I remember a time when we were "camping" out in grandma's front yard and he sang "When you wish upon a star" from Disney before we went to sleep. This is a memory I will never forget.
He will never be forgotten ...
